Night Section 5

Now that the book is progressing, we see what the conditions were like during winter in the camps. The prisoners only get slightly thicker clothing and that's it. I hate how disrespectful the Nazis are to the prisoners. But, luckily, Elie got a Jewish doctor to treat his foot! If the doctor had been a Nazi, he probably wouldn't have kept his leg... Once again, this story is just a horrible testament to how evil humans can be.

Night Section 4

Well, once again, the story was entertaining, but cruel. I hate that the Nazis were so mean to the Jews. They punished poor Elie for accidentally seeing Idek with a woman prisoner. It's not like he was trying to catch them or anything! But I'm glad that he at least had that girl to help him. It's kind of cool that they met each other later in life, also.

Night Sections 2-3

In section two, there was that very crazy lady who was talking about the flames. Was she a psychic or something? Also, I've heard of people doing that before, but i thought it was only in fictional stories. This is based on Elie Wiesel's experience, right? Anyways, this story is very dark... I can't even imagine how much this would have scarred him at 12 years old. This whole book is just kind of surreal, it's like something you would see in a made up movie... maybe worse.

Night Section 1

So far, this book has been a real revelation to me . It has really shown me how horrible Auschwitz was, and the kind of things that people had to go through. When the author was talking about how the police were beating children with truncheons, I was slightly freaked out. Also, I didn't know that the Jews weren't allowed to have their valuables. Of course, i am very interested in the book, and I do want to read more... But i do hope that the story gets slightly less graphic.
